Droid 3 not too far from shipping again...

I’m always on the lookout for odd little boxes, and the Droid 3 fits the bill nicely. Unfortunately, I found out about it after they had already sold all their export units last year. I just got an e-mail that implies they’re about to start making some units available to US customers again.

It’s a little monophonic DCO-based synth with an incredibly sophisticated routing matrix. Judging from the samples available on the site, it definitely is in a class of its own, perfect for “video game” sounds and effects. Not too expensive, either, considering each one is hand-made. While it’s in the same family as the SIDstation, it seems to be a much more stable device, and better suited to live performance. (My SIDstation crashed so often, I was never brave enough to take it on stage.)
