Roland - The Synthesizer Pt. 3…

Here’s what you’ve all been waiting for: the first half of the Big Mo. Practical Synthesis For Electronic Music Volume One is the third of the four books in The Synthesizer, and is probably the most informative of the collection. While I’ll admit that I don’t go out and find every synth book ever written, I have a reasonable knowledge of tomes of this sort, and I’m not personally aware of a better primer for modular synthesis.

It is necessarily System 100M-centric, but 99% of the info translates directly to Euro-Rack modulars (or, well, any other modern modular, for that matter.) Even though it was written in the 70s as a manual for a synth that is no longer produced, it is perfectly applicable today, and is an excellent tool if you’re just getting in to modulars and don’t know how the hell they work.

Anyhow, I’ll get Volume Two up shortly, probably tomorrow time permitting. These two are quite a bit larger than the two I already put up; this one is over 100 pages and so is Volume Two. Here’s the file. If you’ve already donated to this effort, thank you kindly. This is a time-consuming and expensive process. (And, it turns out, hard on my scanner, a fact I didn’t foresee.) If you haven’t donated, and you find these PDFs useful, here’s a button for you to whack:
