Cluster-Grade Fuck…

Heading to L.A. in the morning to play my Big Show at Bar Sinister. (I’m on at 11PM. Wear black.) I’ve managed to rehearse my set several times with only minimal mistakes, the kind an audience would never notice. So I think I’m in pretty good shape. (He said, with admirable yet utterly mis-placed self confidence)

Concerns? None to speak of, except maybe the Manta. I’ve noticed that it gets a little… balky, I guess… when my fingers are wet. On the good side, it should be quite chilly, so no danger of sweating. On the minus, it’s going to be pouring rain, so the relative humidity will be on the order of 120% or some such. I’ll admit that I’m curious as to whether that will affect it. Not so curious as to actually want to find out, of course.

I’m exploring using self-oscillating delays heavily throughout the set. Luckily, being half owner of a company that makes several delay products, I have a fairly good idea of what goes in to making a delay self-oscillate, and how to control same. My 2-buss effects rack is like a commercial for Audio Damage. For the hardware, I’m using the Eventide TimeFactor pedal, which oscillates quite nicely in certain modes.

In any case, this will be my first time on stage for some 5 years. I’ll be recording the show, and the results will be available for download as soon as I get back to Tempe and edit out whatever fuck-ups are in the set.
