Live From The Frozen Wasteland...

Still idling in this hotel room in Spokane. I’m going a bit stir crazy, I’ll readily admit. For some stupid reason I didn’t think to bring my Duet and a pair of decent headphones, so I can’t work on music. The vast majority of work I do for Audio Damage is done on my PC, so I really can’t do that either. I’m left with fooling with Processing or Quartz Composer (both quite unfulfilling on a MacBook), staring at the ceiling, or trolling the internet in search of trouble while these tinny speakers bang out Cliqhop.
Anyhow, I’m going to be selling my Eclipse shortly, due to the imminent arrival of an H8000FW. I can’t say enough nice things about the Eclipse, as you full well know. (Or any Eventide box, for that matter. They are, and always have been, my most favoritest hardware effects makers.) I would actually kind of like to keep it, but an H8000 is four Eclipses and then some, and I don’t need five Eclipses, despite what my greedy-ass lizard hind brain might be telling me. I’m looking to get $1300 plus true shipping. It’ll come with a 1GB card, and is updated to the latest OS. I won’t be able to actually send it until the H8000 arrives, so you have some time to think about it.
The fact that the H8000 takes four AES/EBU channels has gummed up my rig of two posts ago a bit. I have to ponder how to pull that all off if I want to use all four I/O on the H8000. I’m trying to avoid the obvious, which is another Lynx AES16 card. Gotta think about that for a while.
Also, thanks once again to everyone for your kind words vis-a-vis my mother’s situation. As it turns out, it’s not as bad as was originally thought, and as a couple people mentioned in the previous thread, it’s 2009, and this sort of thing is, for want of a better word, routine. She’s having this done, if you’re curious. I’m fairly squeamish, so I don’t want to dwell on the whole process too much, but suffice to say that assuming the operation is a success, and there’s no reason to think it won’t be, she’ll be able to go home tomorrow, and so will I.
Which brings me to my final issue. Is there someone in PDX that wants to make a couple hundred bucks helping me move my sofa and a couple other items I can’t get myself on Monday or Tuesday? It would involve riding with me down to Mill City, getting the objects in question, and bringing them back to PDX. You should obviously not have back problems, and you should have a bit of common sense viz. the moving of large (albeit not that heavy) objects. Drop me a line if you’re interested.
