2009
1. Roland MKS-80. This is a Rev 5, and is in excellent condition, both cosmetically and operationally. No MPG-80, so don't bother asking about one. $1100.
2. Moog The Source. This is in excellent condition, has Synhouse MIDI added, an extra brand new membrane (in the unlikely event that the existing pristine perfect one ever fucks off), and an Anvil case. $1000. Somebody who shall remain nameless might have put a Braniff sticker on the Knob, but I've grown to like that feature. (And if you don't know what Braniff is, well, you're not very old.)
3. Korg KP3 Kaoss Pad. The mic and headphone jacks of this seem to be fuckered (they work, but only sorta. Probably just loose connectors, but I can't be bothered.) Otherwise, works fine. (The RCA jacks are where the money is, anyhow.) $225.
4. Yamaha TX802. One rack ear slightly bent, and the power cord has been shortened so you don't have like 5 feet of Yamaha gumming up the back of your rack. You can have it for what I paid for it, which is $150. This is such a fucking steal I don't even know where to begin.
5. Yamaha TX81Z. Ditto. $50.
6. Ibanez UE405. This is an all-analog multi-fx rack, including a killer analog delay. $200.
That's it for the first round. I have some Big stuff that I'd prefer to sell to PDX and environs only, including a Roland RD-250 and a Yamaha P-85, but I'll probably just CL those unless someone here has a dire need. The RD-250 is a cool-ass box, anyhow.
did you see the latest upgrade for it? i think it'll take a long long time to get bored of that thing if you grab one.

plus soundtower makes a pc/mac editor for it.

That said, the PC3K is most definitely an upgrade. I wonder if I can hook a USB floppy to it and read my thousands of old .k disks? That would be slick as fuck.

seems it can? it says "will read USB thumb drive" so i assume that means it should be able to read USB devices in general but may have some kind of size limit to what it can access. some are saying this is just a precursor to a K3000 but who knows? apparently these upgrades were added at the urging of some top film composer who had kurzweil's ear.
i recently found a K2500R w/KDFX for $300ish and i'm digging it. very different to any HW sampler i've ever used so i'm having some fun learning it. quite dense but the fun generators are great and the envelopes very flexible.
re: soundtower.. i know nothing about the PC3X editor but i know w/their evolver editor there are some really nice functions for drawing in waveforms and doing the patch genetics etc and it's a nice librarian. maybe there are some special features under the hood of their kurz editor?
but it sounds like you have VAST already imprinted on your brain and having it flat on a KB in front of you will be instant tunnel vision into the LCD. i like that kind of thing w/hardware and a good interface/OS is a win win over an computer for me many times.
when you get your PC3X i look forward to reading about it here.

There is a demo for the 2500/2600 you should hunt up; it is most assuredly on the Webs somewhere; it is Run Like Hell recreated entirely with VAST, and with no sequencing. The envelopes and LFOs in the K series are fucking ludicrously capable. (Actually, you kind of need a K2500/2600 to get the real shit from the demo, as it uses the front panel and such as well. Don't know how well it'll work with the rack version.)
