Major Progress...
From the original Analog Industries archive. Some links and images from that era no longer resolve.
The screengrab above is exactly what you think it is. Tattoo VST for OS X. The port to the OSX side of things has begun, and is (in output, at least) halfway done. We’ll start the AU today, and frankly, this is the Great Unknown of this whole project, and is the last remaining hurdle. I’ll keep you posted, but it won’t be long, unless Very Bad Things happen.
In other news, I’m nearly finished with the first update to DroneStation. I gave it a much nicer UI (visually, at least), fixed a bug where the note names don’t correspond to what’s actually getting shit out the sound-hole, and gave it tilt-to-frequency. I’ve got to spruce up the logo and what-not a little bit, then I’ll submit it to Apple. Once Tattoo is out and I can devote some actual time to the project, I’ll add the non-Southpaw mode and presets, and probably a gesture recording/playback feature.

Will the AU version be able to output MIDI? I have a vague, perhaps fictitious, recollection that AU instruments can't do that sort of thing.
AU instruments can't do that sort of thing.
There's a crude hack, wherein the instrument talks to the IAC buss, and then you have another instrument with the IAC buss as the input. However, the timing of the IAC buss is such that it doesn't lend itself to, you know, drumming.
So AU users will have to live with disappointment. But they're used to that, being largely Logic and DP users, so I don't think it'll come as too hard a blow. ;-)

Hi Chris,
On the subject of dronestation; would it be possible to add a restrain to scale function to filter what notes you can choose on the sliders?
I find it a bit hard to select which notes I want sometimes. Although I cant really complain considering it cost £1 or whatever it was...
Tattoo is looking good by the by... very good.
Restraining to scale would certainly be convenient, no? Lot of coding, though, making all those arrays. They'd actually be handy for my next app, though, so I need 'em anyhow. Let me ponder the issue.

Regarding Dronestation constrain-to-scale: Bebot does this, and it is extremely useful. +1
Hi Chris,
Just to tell you if you need beta tester for your Tatoo i'm here and i work with cubase essential 5 under 10.5.8.....
Yeah, you and every other swingin' dick in the music industry, apparently.
In all seriousness, we've got all the testers we need, and then some. Thanks for the offer, though.

what is D-Plane synthesis?
I think you'd have to be a bit older, or unusually well versed in 80s pop culture, to get that. Suffice to say it's an attempt at humor that not many people that aren't my age or older will get.

ohhh, d-plane, d-plane. *waves arms*
