At the risk of becoming tedious with these clips, here's a quick render of a basic house track (well, sorta) that has Tattoo as the sole source of percussive elements. This is quite simple, but shows Tattoo in context:
There are three different patterns: an intro part, a fill, and the main loop. These are switched by MIDI notes applied directly to Tattoo's track. The hi-hats are coming out their own output (and have Dubstation inserted), as is the clap (which has ADverb). The synths used, if you're curious about that, are Massive for that chordThing and a DSI TETR4 for the bass and that other little sound. There is no 2-buss compression or limiting on this track.
I'm really digging the sound of this thing. It's not the kind of drum sound that I normally use. That is a good thing. Tattoo might drag me into some different types of production...
Holy shit, that sounds great..the kick is really nice..I love that you guys have come up with something in that genre of beatbox but with its own unique sound...and a nod to the nicest parts of the others.
Adam and I haven't quite come to an agreement on the price, but I imagine that will be one of the first orders of business on Monday morning. It's going to be more than our top-line effects, of course. That goes without saying.
I'll have some more clips before lunch tomorrow. Anything anyone wants to hear in particular? I'll definitely do some stuff with triplets and alternate time signatures, and I'm also going to do one with more "IDM" style sounds rather than the X0X ones I've been doing. While its range isn't as broad as something like Ultrabeat or microTonic, it can still do some wacky shit.
The internal sequencer can be configured for 1 measure of 32nd notes, 1 measure of 16th notes, 2 measures of 16th notes, or one measure of 16 trips or 8th trips, which are 24 and 12 steps respectively. (All those are per pattern, and there are 16 patterns in each preset.) Anything besides that and you've gotta hit it with MIDI.
My intention was to demonstrate the other internal ones, because everything I've done thus far has been either 1 x 16 or 2 x 16.
