2009
This first one is a house beat that has every voice in it. The voice complement in Tattoo is Kick, Snare8, Snare9, Low Tom, Mid Tom, High Tom, Closed Hat, Open Hat, Cymbal, Rimshot, Clap, and Cowbell. You can hear 'em all here. Note that these aren't the final voices, nor did I program them for interest. I was just checking processor loads.
EDIT: Here's a quick loop with Tattoo set to be sort of 808-ish. The sounds in this loop are kick (set to "sine" waveform), Snare8, CHH and OHH, and the rimshot. For best results, hit the Soundcloud link and download the WAV. This Flash compression routine Soundcloud uses is the suck.
EDIT: This next one shows the handclap situation. The clap sound is getting modded by its attendant sequencers. You can also hear the closed hat decay being modded by its sequencer. A touch of saturation on the kick, as well.

There's a kind of constant white noise throb -- is that the ride?

Brilliant.
With reference to using other peoples' phrases I have to admit I quote you all the time. And in the UK that often leads to the very blankest of looks on the part of the listener.
