We Now Will Accept Comments From The Gallery...
Okay, it's been a long time since I've done this. While we're in our between-product-downtime, I'm going to open the floor to suggestions as to what Audio Damage should make next.
Obviously, we already have a fairly good idea of what we're going to be doing, but we haven't started yet, and that means we haven't actually committed yet. So there is a chance, however remote, that your idea could be better than our idea, and we'll do that next instead.
So, let's have it. The usual ground rules apply. For people that haven't been part of this before, posts like "A synth!!!111!ZOMG" are stupid and no one really cares, so don't bother. We don't do clones any more, so "you should make a clone of a Dingleberry 3000" is pointless. Tubes, spring reverbs, and tape emulation can't be done at the current state of DSP, at least not anywhere near something that could be considered worth a shit, and anyone that says otherwise is a balls-out liar or stone deaf, so don't bother mentioning tubes, tape, springs, or any combination thereof.
With that out of the way, bring that shit. What do you want to see us build?
Comments:
A lot of comments.. Dont have time to read them all.
Apologies if this has already been offered.
I'd like a really "simple" (Famous last words.. ; P ) Old Skool Step Sequencer.
Add it as an insert & it controls velocity & pitch.
Maybe there could be a flip window that allows you to draw in a curve or curves which would assign to a contol of your choice in the synth.
& it would HAVE to have a randomizer & the ability to move the grid up/down & left/right.
It would be really cool if you could drag & drop or export the patterns as a midi file for your DAW arrange page.
Call it - Stepback - LOL
Sure.. Its been done before, but I'd definitely buy it. I love using step sequencers & I'd like to see the twist you would add.
It would be great for greating riffs / quick fx and a lot more.

An arpeggiator whose patterns are based on one dimensional cellular automata.

after playing with ronin for a while, I've been thinking that I would really like to see the concept expanded; Take the modular nature of ronin, add in the effects of bigseq2, kombinat and discord, the step sequencers from bigseq2, and the multiband capabilities of kombinat. It would certainly have to be more expensive than any of your existing products, but would surely be worth the cost.
Also, some more plugins in the liquid/fluid/vapor range would be nice: I could use a nice phaser!

probably very dumb and very genearlised but some kind of 'end of the chain' maximiser,eq,limiter beef up polish or warm your entire track type thing. but with the usual adamage style of routing. kinda like vintage warmer, ozone and a few others thronw into one with a nice eq as well. but you can pick what bit comes first.

I'd like a a vst that pours me a large malt whisky, gives me a foot rub and then makes some great music for me whilst I take a little nap.Oh and if you could have it done by tomorrow that would be great!!!
Just kidding i'm sure whatever you guys come up with will be great as usual.

An octave doubler. 1 and 2 below and 1 above. I'm thinking for guitar and bass but whatever....

convolution/IR reverb with uniquely AD-like simplicity and elegance. pleasepleaseplease. there is a huge gap in the market for this because the only two options we really have are altiverb and space designer, both of which will run $500+

you forgot pristine space from voxengo up to 8 channels of convolution verb. PC only though i think there is a plan to eventually make it mac friendly. i think it's off in the distance somewhere as voxengo are porting most everything to mac.

We don't do IRs or sample playback. We're strictly algorithmic here at AD, and the likelihood of that changing is exceedingly slim.

Convolution reverbs are a potential patent time bomb. LakeDSP was suing people left and right for violating their unequally partitioned convolution patent. People were complaining about that, but I haven't seen any evidence that their patent is invalid, despite a number of efforts to dredge up such evidence. LakeDSP has been bought out by Dolby, but I don't know if the glut of convolution reverbs out there means that people are licensing the algorithms from Dolby, or if they have figured out work arounds for getting low latency convolution, or if they are assuming that the patent is no longer enforced. The tricky thing about patents is that they can be enforced at any time during the life of the patent - unlike trademarks, which need to be defended in order to be considered valid.
Also, Space Designer may be $500, but you get a lot thrown in with that, including tons of non-convolution effects. And virtual instruments. And a DAW. And an audio editing program. And...
