Yet Another BS2 Update...
Post Comment

(Click the image for the full-sized screenshot...)

We're moving at a punk-rock clip on BigSeq2. I've got the UI about 95% of the way there, and Adam has the sequencer sections 95% done and some of the DSP done. You'll start to see the normal barrage of screencaps and audio samples Real Soon Now. While Adam is doing his bits that don't require my involvement (beyond the occasional grunt of affirmation) I'm working on the UI for the following release, which I'll show you fairly soon.

i'm not a graphic designer but for me there's something funny about the bs2 look if i compare it with, say, the screenshot of reverence: link [www.mojopie.com] ... i can't quite figure out what it is, but i prefer the reverence look to the bs2... maybe i'm just one of those who think black sounds better?

Yeah; black is much more inviting, but hey it's just a skin. I'm interested more in whats inside.

Speaking as a black man, I want to say that I like the look of BigSeq2 and embrace diversity.

Yes, anything can be politicized.

You know, I've held my tongue for quite a while about most of this (somewhat) unsolicited AD user feedback. Am I the only one that gets tired of the predictable and constant "make it this way" and "add this for me" chatter?? Maybe that's the reason Chris puts up preliminary screen shots.

Personally, I trust that Chris and Adam will make a great plugin. They make it, I learn to use it, and music is made. It's pretty simple. Do all of these seemingly petty details really affect your work flow? Really? Or do you just like the idea of having it your way?

A multi-discipline interface like Reverence, which is rendered entirely in 3D Studio Max, but made from Photoshop parts, takes about 100 times longer to make, and once I make it, I'm married to it. This sort of interface is very difficult to change once we've decided on a layout. Moving things around is extremely time consuming, and a whole big pile of un-fun.

Now, that aside, I'll grant that I'm not a trained graphic designer. I do, in fact, use and appreciate the comments, for the most part. Or I ignore them.

I know I should go look through some old post for this answer but its a quick yes/no answer... I saw an Arp sequencer the other day that had a sequential/random button for playback - is there any chance of that with Big Seq2?

I noticed the RND button but that looks more for generating random levels in the sequencer, whereas being able to set levels to your liking & then switch the order' of their playback between sequential or random would be an excellent feature...

any chance?

That changes things, significantly. Ignore my comment.

How about a feature in BS2 that will force me to go on vacation once a year, makes a mean dirty martini, and shoots out laser beams just for fun.

No, there won't be random stepping, sorry. -CR

I'm mostly just eager to get started playing around with it. Can the effect's sequencer be set to any parameter, or are there more limited choices?
