Purple Biz in API lunchbox

Purple were kind enough to send me a couple Biz Mk mic pres to try out, and the UPS man just dropped 'em off. Haven't plugged 'em up yet, so I can't speak to them at all, except to say that they sure are purdy little things.

EDIT: Okay, played about for a bit. These are, in fact, the Biz. I'll have to do some recordings, but I'll say on an initial examination with vocals and bass, these sound fucking great. They do have a bit of color (and can, depending on the knob settings, have a lot of color) which I would describe as generally "American" in sound, and that's music to my ears, being an unrepentant API lover. However, these are able to do a much greater variety of tones than a typical API pre.

I'm of the opinion that Purple doesn't send me enough stuff.

I have the original Biz as a dedicated DI for my Yamaha CP70. It beat out my vintage API 312 and 512 based pres. I especially like the ganged amps and the ability to overdrive the output stage. Wonder if the new input inpedance and mic/line switches are useful.

Kudos on those Purples.

Theres a $10,800 DAW controller that just came out. This is the one time I hope Behringer copycats something.

For about $8,000 cheaper you can get the Euphonix jammy and when you sell all your shit on Ebay you can say it came from a Euphonix studio/bedroom.

You know how much fuckin gas $10,800 can buy??

I'll tell you what: if I could afford that WK controller, I could afford to pony up another $15K and get the SSL DAW-savvy desk. That bitch is _nice_.

But unfortunately, I have to keep putting gas in my SUV so the terrorists don't win.

I was actually expecting the pre-amp discussion of the day to regard the sillyness of a product named Mynx. I'm not sure when they announced it, but I got an e-mail today and wasn't completely sure it wasn't something that outsmarted the spam filter on first glance.

BTW. I'm pretty sure the terrorists have won. Inspiring a country into fear, poor decisions, and a constriction of freedoms for 6-7 years seems about like what they wanted to happen. I hope they enjoy Disney World...

Looks like you have about 4 slots left in that rack. Given any thought to how you'll fill them?

The rack is a loaner too. If I buy these, I'm gonna get the Purple 10-slot and get their mixer and headphone carts.

Viz. the terrorists, it's all over the second they get a strip mall in Pakistan with a Borders (with parasitic Starbucks), Bed Bath And Beyond, Chuck-E-Cheese, Old Navy, and TGI-fuckin'-Friday's. Once they have to fight off the extended warranty at Best Buy then get their bag checked on the way out, they'll understand that they can't do anything to us that we're not entirely willing to do to ourselves, and go bother someone else for a while.

The Price Of Freedom Is Omnipresent Bullshit.

(And just as a side note, I haven't set foot in a Best Buy since 1999, when I got in an argument with one of the blueshirts about the motherfucking extended warranty. The price of pushy salesman is me taking my electronic gee-gaw dollar, one of the larger dollars in my wallet, elsewhere.)
