The last thing the elderly man next door said before he died was "What's this damn music coming from my pacemaker".
is he like... stupid?
he can easly get electrofied to death.
That MIDI controlled tesla coil was built by a friend of mine, Steve Conner ( http://scopeboy.com/ ). Unfortunately he built it for a client (I forget who) so he can't share the schematics or software used.
We (meaning the members of http://4hv.org/ , a tesla coiling / high voltage / science community) were kind of surprised to see that video on youtube. It's really cool to see it on here (and matrixsynth)!
Although tesla coils are inherently somewhat dangerous, he's not going to "get electrofied to death." The high voltage discharge from the topload is high frequency AC, and thus does not carry the danger of muscle contraction of DC or low frequency AC. There is still potential for burning (after all, it is plasma) and the low voltage mains side of things is dangerous, though no more than any other mains equipment.
I believe the controller electronics and the TC are optoisolated from one another, but I'm not sure. I'll ask him if he can give us any more specific info. :)
Update:
I forgot about this thread: http://4hv.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?12107
Finn Hammer is the guy he built it for (Steve says that in the video but I forgot, d'oh).
Anyway, there you go.
