Ahh, the old CompuMusic. We used to gig with one of these, two Apple IIs, five & a quarter inch floppy drives, various analogue syynths running off the CV/Gate outputs, and a Decillionix DC1 sampler card in the 2nd Apple. What a nightmare! Still, I wish there were a PC interface now that would put out CV/Gates directly, not via Midi, and do so with high resolution. It would be great to have all the LFOs, EGs, etc generated in software (like Max or Reaktor) and keep the VCOs etc as real analogue.

Ruediger Lorenz died in 2000, so i'm not sure what the state of his collection is...

German synthesist who was a Rock musician during the Seventies, but turned to synthesizers by the end of the decade. His works are very diverse. Some of them are just plain weird, some dark. Very often incorporates world influences. Sometimes Lorenz's music approaches the Space Music genre. You may like different works by him, depending on your taste. Fata Morgana is highly experimental, Pazifica is melodic, Taklamakan contains Space structures, Congo is one of his most ethnic sounding ones and Atoll is Dark Ambient.

I have many of his releases on vinyl and cd that I got here in the states over the years through the nice folks at Greenworld and Eurock. Always liked his stuff as he bounced around electronic genres and kinda refused to be pigeonholed and never catered to the masses. Very personal shot of his studio that brings me nothing but nice thoughts about a man who has left this world yet his music remains.
