Hmmmm... (Euphonix Whee!)

by Chris Randall

Anyone know what Euphonix have up their sleeves? I'd like a "Euphonix for [my] personal studio." Yes, I would. I imagine it's something along the lines of the Logic/Mackie Control, only not made by Mackie, and therefore good. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Seeing how I ride by their place everyday to and from work maybe I should stop in and take a peek. They share a building with Fry's and a few startups in Palo Alto.

Maybe one of whatever it is could... uh... fall off the loading dock and in to your car? I'd make it worth your while.

Seriously, though. I have a studio, and it's Euphonix. I don't really care what it is. It could be a fucking jog wheel and I'd buy it, because then I can put "comes from Euphonix/Eventide/Lexicon/Apogee studio" in all my eBay auctions. Of course, I guess I need to auction something then.

I just work with a Euphonix MC for some days for a client and it's great fun. looking forward for their small footprint 'whatever device will come in jan 2008' - guess its still to expensive for most including me, but flexibility of current MC system5 / Fusion EuCon protocol rocks the house.

My guess is that the basic (HUI sized) unit is around 3k.
This is for rich people who have a personal studio, not use humans....

If you've actually been looking for a viable alternative control surface to the MCU, the Radikal Technologies SAC 2.2 is a fantastic deal, bought used at about 500USD, with way more features than the Mackie product, and boutique build quality to boot. I've never used it with Cubase, but friends have, and they say it works a charm.

the fairlight is awesome, no?

a lot of guys buying old Euphonix these days are finding out what maintenance pigs they are, I hear.
