I swear to christ that if I didn't know better (and I do...) I'd think Diamond Dave 103 put this auction up. In case you don't feel like clicking, I'll just quote the auction title to you, and you can laugh and laugh...

Vintage MC-505 Roland Analog Synth Effects Groove Box

The description is what got me thinking, though: This GrooveBox is in MINT Conditon. This is an all in one techno music production studio! This baby really is full of techno.

yeah this is actually vintage, but a 2k starting bid? the original auction is gone now but this is relisted after its first go around when (obviously bogus) bidders got the price up to $4700. note the referenced phil collins heritage is for the little programmer box that comes with it, not even for the drum machine itself.

It's not from an SSL studio so thats a dealbreaker.

I've been so tempted to make onesies for all the AI readers that have little kids that say "This Baby Is Full Of Techno" I can't even tell you... I know I'd only sell like 8 so there's no point in it. Plus Diamond Dave would fly up from Belize to try and choke royalties out of me, and I just don't want the drama.

You just reminded me that I had someone say "IDK" to me in real life today. Not "I don't know", "IDK".

Well, if you are laughing at the fact that the MC-505 is being called "vintage", don't do that. The MC-505 is almost 10 years old now... if you are a 19 year old kid, that is like so totally vintage.

Back when I was 19 in the year 1994, I would have totally considered a synth from 1984 to be vintage.

I would even agree that it is an all-in-one dance music studio... It may be rather uncreative dance music because of the canned samples and beats and such... but you *CAN* produce something that is as good as any Tiesto song on one. The auction description isn't promising any more than the Roland marketing copy on the box probably does.

The weirdiest thing about the auction that I see is that the item is located in "The South!", capitalized and with an exclamation mark. Make no mistake, it isn't some damn Yankee selling you this all-in-one Techno Studio!

Oh wait, were you laughing at the price? Oops, yeah, that is pretty silly.

Believe me someone will buy it eventually, I sold a crumby numark dj mixer with a built in kaoss pad for almost $400 USD on the bay, I paid $150 for it.

Now that toobz in led-backlit windows have jumped the shark, they really do need to start adding a small gauge to indicate the level of techno a given device is filled with.
