One of those days...

by Chris Randall

Man, I can't catch a break today. It started when I whacked my head against our brick fireplace trying to catch Pablo (leaving not only a bump, but a scrape) and has generally gone downhill from there. Everything piece of software and gear I own is either crashing or making some kind of hissing noise, nothing will stay in tune, and it's so hot here that I keep sweating, irritating the scrape on my forehead. I bet Moby never has days like this.

To top it all off, I'm supposed to be on vacation. When you work at home, the word takes on a new meaning, of course. I was supposed to not be working on music or Audio Damage stuff, but I can't help it. Real vacation starts on the 6th, when the missus and I are heading down to L.A. for a few days. We're going to see Underworld, among other things. So if there's anything interesting happening in San Francisco on the 6th, or L.A. on the 7th, 8th, or 10th (obviously the 9th is taken up) this is the thread to pimp it. No hippy shit, though.

Quite aside from the fact that I despise you for being able to see one of the few bands I actually WANT to see live, you may want to keep an eye out when you're in S.F. Rumor has it Underworld are planning an unannounced gig or two at the start of the U.S. tour.
I still can't believe there isn't a single show happening in the midwest.

Noisegeek- they have an SF gig on the 7th & 8th already... if they are planning a warm up somewhere, I can't imagine it would be a third SF show.

I've seen them quite a few times, beginning in '87 with the Underneath The Radar tour (does that count?) and I can say without any doubt that their show is worth a healthy drive.

We do have quite a bit of other business in L.A., as well, so it's not like we're driving a thousand miles just to go to a concert, I guess.

It was a fun-filled day here, too: I had a new furnace installed in the house. The installers arrived at 10:15AM and didn't leave until nearly 9:00PM, and were definitely not loafing around. I didn't get much of anything done since the furnace is in the room adjacent to my office/studio.

Installing a new furnace is about the most boring upgrade I can think of. At least it's quieter than the old one.

If you end up at loose ends (I know; hard to believe) on Friday the 7th, I'm playing with Jim Bianco at the Hotel Cafe in Hollywood. He's good, good band, cool place. Let me know and I'll get you in.
