Still hoping, dreaming, praying...

by Chris Randall

I'm still looking for someone to take this Evolver off my hands. I'd like another mono synth, please. I'll gladly add cash to the deal. Or buy your mono synth if someone wants to buy this off me. No reasonable offer refused. Unless that reasonable offer involves a ridiculous lowball or someone saying "hey, I've got a CS1X that I'll trade you!"

(And in no way do I mean to offend Mr. Smith with my comments. I just don't like it. It's a fine little synth.)

I'm also still looking for a Hohner Pianet T or N. In a perfect world, someone would write and say "hey, I'd like to trade my Hohner Pianet T for your Evolver, and I live in Portland" but I know as well as anyone that this world is far from perfect.

EDIT: This lil' bitch is SOLD. Thanks to the buyer...

I need to find someone, preferably in Japan, to buy my Ion so I can get an evolver. maybe one of these days. I was just commenting. I'm aware that the Ion is not a mono synth and that you're not any more interested in it than I am. But if anyone else on this board is in Japan and wants to buy an Ion, I will buy CR's Evolver.

i'm in japan (yokohama). does your ion have the "phantom encoder" problem or any other problems? what condition is it in? how much would you like for it? i've also been considering an evolver!

I am not interested in your Ion from Japan (shipping too expensive), but I am just curious what you don't like about the Ion?

I've got a black face Studio Electronics SE-1x that I'd be willing to trade. Feel free to ping me if you're intersted and how much money you'd put into the deal.

Hmmm. That SE-1x might be just the ticket. Let me ponder that one. Not what I had in mind (I was thinking CS-10, MS-10, that sort of thing) but not out of the question.

If I remember my values correctly, It's going to be hard to find anyone willing to trade an MS-10 in good shape for a used Evolover (without the cash offer in addition). A CS-10, or possibly a CS-15, might work. Have you thought about any of the old Roland SH models, like the SH-9 or SH-3A? Personally I'm thinking it might be about the right time to be getting away from these machines though since recapping and other maintenance might be needed before long, and it's hard to justify that type of money on the class of synth being thrown around here. Now, the SE-1x might be a different story. I use my Juno 60 in mono mode if I need a hardware mono synth, of course that doesn't happen very often for me.

I would assume that I would have to throw in a not-inconsiderable amount of cash to trade for an MS-10. That is, of course, fine. If someone has one they just want to sell outright, by all means let me know.

Funnily enough, I'm expecting delivery of an Evolver today and as it happens have an MS10 that I'm looking to unload! Pity I didn't think to contact you last time you posted about getting rid of your own Evolver. Having said that, I'm in the UK and would imagine that, given its weight the cost of sending the MS10 abroad and with sufficient insurance would be rather high.

What's the going rate for a fully functioning, great condition MS10 these days? (I may still yet chicken out of selling it, can't quite make my mind up!)

For me? The going rate is like $20.

For other people, hard to say. I personally would pay $500-$600 for one in usable condition. But with the dollar tanking, that's only like ?250. Probably fetch more in Europe than here.

I'd trade you a slightly modified CS-01. I'd even throw in a CZ101 to sweeten the deal! Yeah!

(Okay, okay.)
