I've got it!

by Chris Randall

I've now figured out how to take advantage of the marketing hype, depsite the fact that our DSP, by and large, contains little that is tube-like. I'm going to put a small window in all future UIs, where you can see the tiny ninja that lives inside, and makes our plug-ins so god-damned dangerous.

Yeah, that's it. There will be a blue LED to illumintate him, just so you know it's a real ninja and not, e.g., some metrosexual indie rocker dressed up like one.

If Microsoft can get away with an animated paperclip, I see no reason why you shouldn't use, say, 25% of my CPU to create a tiny animated scene of, say, dozens of blue mice with the faces of early synthesis pioneers, like, actually making the music that I play through the plugin. That would be cool.

Well, I can see one good reason: animated blue mice don't impart special ninja powers on your audio. A little ninja on the other hand, well...

I, for one, am excited by the thought of a Ninjaphonic? mix

Ok guys, we don't need to argue. The guy in the first post never said that the mice couldn't be real blue ninja mice. You never know, mice might also sound warmer and more natural than tubes. Many early studios had mice.

Why not stick with the tried and true: naked women.

Well, obviously they'd be ninja mice. But maybe they'd be robotic ninja mice. Have you thought of that? No, didn't think so.

Ideally, they'll have the faces of these dudes from Eventide and Lexicon:

Robotic ninja mice don't have the warmth and smooth transient response of organic ninja mice. We hooked several of both to an AP analyzer to verify this, as well as doing double-blind listening tests at a closed-doors by-invitation-only special session at AES.
