Vacating...

by Chris Randall

I'll be out of the office until Sunday. Adam is leaving for Japan tomorrow, as well. So things will be pretty quiet around here for the next couple days. In that vein, this is an open thread for Messe announcement discussion.

Tomer, you're right, but their channel strips and the pre's in the latest consoles are very well regarded, and there are very few great pre's you can get @ $500/channel.
Also the harmonic distortion feature looks really cool.

SSL pres have a specific sound to them that you can't get anywhere else. For "nu-metal" guitar sounds and really up-front vocals, they _CAN NOT_ be beat. Well, except by API pres, but that goes without saying, so I won't say it.

so what do you figure CR?

or

tough choice, but 1) it's not the api 500 series stuff and 2) prolly $300 more for the api, street.

For my personal use, I'd take the API. If I had a commercial or semi-commercial space, I'd probably go with the SSL, simply because it's a little more versatile.

As far as the Messe is concerned, did anyone hear anything about FXpansion? According to their newsletter they were going to be shoing off some new stuff.
