Messe Rumors...

by Chris Randall

MusikMesse starts tomorrow, the great grandpa of all music-related trade shows. Any rumors of New Hotness you know about? Apple Insider thinks that a new iteration of Logic is coming out tomorrow. According to them, Apple's briefing with retailers should be taking place right about now, so I imagine we'll have leaks here in a couple hours.

Other than that, anything exciting coming that anyone wants to share juicy tidbits about?

Logic Pro X is NOT the name, that's just a temporary title for the book on Amazon.

*sheepish grin*

...yeah, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was something similarly over-Applified. Other statements stand.

The recent nosedive that the cost of NI's Reaktor 5 took should be a pretty clear indication of their plans of an upgrade. At least I hope it is announced this week.

I'm hearing that it's just Logic Pro 7.3... don't hold me to it.

Reaktor 6, already?

I really hope the Logic Environment doesn't go away completely. You can do anything in there, like having a copy of Max running in the background. Everytime I think "I wish I could..." I've been able to do it in the Environment. They could add a more friendly version in addition to the Environment, that would be OK with me. Just don't turn Logic Pro into Garage Band ? some of us can handle professional tools.

I saw an ad for a new Prism audio interface in EM, called the Orpheus. It looks to be competing with the Apogee Ensemble.

I think CR's got it just about right. Apple should FINALLY fix those fucking buffers, though.

BTW ? Go, Waldorf, Rah! Rah! Rah!

You know, I keep seeing write-ups about linux audio applications getting closer and closer to maturity, but what I don't get is why I'd want to run audio apps on a full blown linux distro in the first place. It seems to me that the smart thing to do with open source audio would be to build an OS purely for audio. Strip all the unnecessary crap out of the kernel, and make the OS work well for one thing and one thing only: Audio.

I'm psyched about Liquid Mix V2 software which adds sidechain eq and more.

Well. Originally anyware-instruments was also announcing a new module:

link [sequencer.de/syex.ph...]">link [sequencer.de]

It's a real module. I am getting one of the first CloxBox'es from Anyware by mail today or tomorrow.

Extensive testing, photographs are more soon.

... Also another module (VCF) is coming up, so stay tuned ...

It is possible Apple will scrap 'Logic' altogether and relaunch it under a new product name.
