Acid Screamer...

by Chris Randall

While it may be the single most played (and by that I mean "tired") sound in electronic music, it still has its place, and the 303 never sounds better than when it is being run through a good distortion pedal. This fellow has made a distortion box specifically for shredding the 303. The sound samples tell the story. Pertinent to your work? Hard to say; I'll let you be the judge of that. Thanks to Wim for the heads-up.

Thats true though, I couldnt imagine a song like tears in heaven played monophonically on a 303, some fucktard might figure it out though.

there's people still doing interesting things w/the 303. squarepusher anyone? like anything it's all in how you use it.

the thing about those x0x boxes or anything w/a good interface + internal sequencer (hello elektrons) is that once you get to know them you can jam with them. you can play with friends and make spontaneous music.

i read on a forum that "if jimmy hendrix was alive today he'd have a 303". er.. i promptly sent out sentinels like the ones in the matrix and had that poster removed from this mortal coil.

303 vs guitar makes no sense.

*A discussion of what instruments / sounds have been used to death would make a good open thread topic.*

When it all comes down to it, irritatingly redundant acid lines don't program themselves.

"I can state unequivocally that even if you only had one guitar, one amp, and no pedals at all, and had to use it on every song you ever wrote in your entire musical career"

that seems to describe neil young accurately enough. modified les paul into a fender deluxe for just about everything. definitely more versatile/expressive than a 303

Hi Guys,

I'm the designer of this thingie. Thanks for putting it on your blog. All my bandwidth was used in 3 days.
Anyway: At this moment it is not available yet. For that reason I did not put any contact info on the site. Otherwise I would have to answer tons of mails of the liking: "Is it available yet" , " Can you put me on the list" , "How much will it cost" ,....
The production candidate pcb is now on its way to me. If it is ok I will start making them in batches of 10. Exact price is not known yet, but It looks that it will be a good 100?.
Take a look at the site from time to time and you'll see when it is available.
