10.4.9

by Chris Randall

Has anybody had problems with their AudioUnits after upgrading to 10.4.9? We're experiencing some weird issues here, and are trying to build a consensus so we know what's wrong.

PLEASE NOTE: It's a simple question, with a simple answer. It doesn't need to devolve in to a Mac v. PC or Intel v. PPC or OSX v. OS9 debacle. Quite frankly, I could give a fuck, and will be liberal with my kill button.

Using a MacBook Pro 2.0 with Mac OS X.4.9 here.
DAW is Ableton Live 6.0.5 and I'm using DubStation, Reverence and Ratshack Reverb without any problems (so far).
Let me just add that I use these all the time.

Cheers,
Jo

For the record, our existing products should work fine in 10.4.9. Our problem appears to be that AUs _built_ in 10.4.9 don't work in 10.4.8 or prior. There is nothing available to customers currently that is built in 10.4.9, so it's a non-issue from that standpoint.

I've started seeing posts claiming that the AU problems are caused by the Automatic 10.4.9 update...and are solved by installing the full COMBO update (which i do out of habit anyhow)...

i can't confirm this myself as im strictly Cubase and OSX (AU was the reinvented wheel i didnt need and Logic just makes me feel queasy
..just a personal choice)

...anyhow maybe it will help others...

Thanks, quantize and others, for the various comments and suggestions. I haven't yet tried doing the full Combo update because we've shifted our attention (as mentioned elsewhere) to Replicant and I'd really like to get it squared away before I leave for vacation. Also, frankly, I'm pretty disgusted (once again) with AU development in general and how Apple delights in presenting a shifting target for us developers, and that's kind of dampening my enthusiasm for messing with the mystery Mac.

(Astute observers will point out that we have to sort out the AU situation before releasing the update to Replicant. Don't worry, I haven't overlooked this truism.)
