Some New Electronica...

by Chris Randall

If you're in the market for some new electronica, check out our new artist Bounte. His first album, "One," will be available in a week or so, simultaneously with mine. You can preview the entire album on LastFM here. Stylistically, it's hard to pin this one down. It has elements from several distinctly different genres, including IDM, a bit of house, big beat, and even (gasp, choke, the only time you'll see this word here...) prog. But in a cool ELP way, and not a gay-as-assless-chaps Dream Theatre way.

Good lord please stop using the word electronica... sorry it just sounds like my father talking about techno.

Okay. Fine. IDM/House/Big Beat/Prog then. I'll see if Tunecore has a genre match for that, son.

This album's full of techno (actually it's not technically techno IMO). Funny, after the techno nomenclature thread a while back, seems electronic music has the most ridiculous sub-subgeneres, but also the fastest turnover of those genres.

If it were rock music, we could just call it post-something or other. Post-electronica.

Ooh. I like that. Post-ironic rocktronica. I think we're on to something here.
