Mobile Fun...

by Chris Randall

Elle made me this simplified blog entry page so I could do live blogging from my phone. I'm just testing it out.

Okay, that seemed to work. The pictures this thing takes are for shit, so I won't be using them. As luck would have it, it takes the same kind of memory card as my camera, so I can just drop the camera card in there, browse it to upload, and la de da.

Technology, man. It's the shit.

I might take issue with the word "loser," but with the inordinate amount of time I spend killing elves in Warsong Gulch, I suppose it's appropriate.

About 13 years ago, just as Sony was about to step into the ring, marketing was being directed at 30+ year olds to convince them to spend more money on yet another console and more games for their kids. The kids certainly couldn't afford it, and their tantrums weren't always enough to overcome the parents' reluctance.

Those kids are grown up now. Marketing is still directed at 30+ year olds, but because they are the primary players! The parents are buying them for themselves but rationalize the cost because it is "for the kids."

There's a whole generation of adults plastered to screens playing games. Many are stay-at-homes while the spouse works and the kids are at school. Speaking of that, I'm 22 minutes late for work and I haven't showered yet.

Since I work at home and my time is my own, I'm able to step away if work is bothering me or I have writer's block and kill things. This is nice. I don't have kids, don't like kids, don't want kids. But I have a PS2, a Wii, a Gamecube, a Gameboy, and a 2600.

A 2600? I thought you'd given up on modulars!

Thank you, thank you. I'll be here all week.

I've been nerding out on "Trauma Center" as of late. They could quite possibly use this game is a therapy for Crack addiction. Removing tumors, battling the deadly "GUILT" Virus, and Teenage looking anime nurses with huge boobs.. What more could one need?
