Stop it, you're killing me.So I'm guessing metal drumming is at its kewlest when there is no approximation of beatb and basically sounds like one guy typing.

God damn, so many keytar haters around here... as silly as a keytar is, the guy has chops and does a pretty good job on the thing.

Give a guy credit where credit's due if he's got talent- whatever instrument he may be playing - instead of snobbing him.

I'd rather be a keytar hater, thanks.

On the metal keyboad drummer guy, a few of the drums actually sound like an IBM Selectric typewriter (out of my powerbook's speakers). He'd have something genuinely cool if he only used samples from a typewriter instead of that BFD (or whatever) rawk sample set. Record a teletype, and old Underwood, said IBM - then jam out - and boom, interesting novelty!

Now see, I thought for sure you'd have posted about the Iggy and the Stooges rider that's up on the SmokingGun -link [www.thesmokinggun.co...]">link [www.thesmokinggun.co...]

Then again, CDM and music thing have both posted about it already.

Well, there's 1:15 of my life I'll never get back.

I think "keytard" is definitely an appropriate term here. This is the musical equivalent of stopping a window fan with your tounge: yeah, people will be impressed in a what-a-freak way, but they'll also wonder how much of your life you wasted practicing to get to that point. I mean, if he has those chops, there are a million better things he could do with them than being the Yngvie of the keytar. Christ, at least do a Wakeman imitation instead of this shit...

As for the metal-drummer from the typing pool: given how brutally they apply compression to most metal music these days, a lot of it is pretty spot-on. Especially when he get to the bass-drums-so-fast-it-sounds-like-the-cd-is-skipping part.

I guess that's another minute+ that I'll never get back...

yeah this is indeed a nerd self loathing fest.

as for the keytard, well the world is full of people with seemingly useless talents. for all I know hes gonna grow up and make gold records when I'm yelling at the kids to get off the lawn.
