NAMM & AES Rumors!

by Chris Randall

Heh. Made you look. Seriously, though, I was flirting with the idea of going to AES, since it's such a short drive and all, but I think I've changed my mind. I'll definitely be at NAMM, though. I've heard some juicy shit, but nothing I can repeat, unfortunately. At least, until I see someone else repeat it, then I'll be a repeatin' motherfucker.

In any case, has anyone heard any tidbits of good stuff? And I don't mean a PRS with dildo inlays or a Relics version of the first post-CBS strat. I mean good stuff...

korg will be showing their new "valve force" line of guitar tuners.

Valve Force? So these'll have little glowing 12AX7's in them?

Behringer Marmoset...the Lemur clone.

I dig my little Planet Waves pick-sized strobe tuner.

why cant behringer clone oddball old stuff like the Dr Pad or Synare 3, then I wouldnt have to spend any time looking for em any more and could use that time bitching about how crappy the euro-clone version was instead.

Why the fuck do people try to hunt down drPads for???
I never got that.

Apparently, there's a rumor of a small-format API console (not the 7600/8200 system they already sell.) Of course, that's a bit above my pay grade. A bit? Ho, ho, ho. But a boy can dream.

sepia: some of us actually like old garbage like that. Bear in mind I once released something much akin to Metal Machine Music using a very long chain of $5 beat to hell pawnshop stomp boxes.

Apparently Rupert has a new console coming out at AES. I wonder if it will be happy-meal-sized like the Portico pieces.

I heard a rumor a while ago that boomerang will be coming out with a new looper at AES. I really hope they do. Has anyone heard anything more detailed about this?
