New At Analogue Haven...

by Chris Randall

It has become my lot in life to tirelessly pimp both Analogue Haven and Effector 13. Today, I have the opportunity to do both in one fell swoop. The Effector 13 Synth Mangler pedal, which initially brought that company to my attention a couple months ago is now available at Analogue Haven for purchase, for the reasonable price of $295. What is it? A pair of E13 Soda Meiser pedals, in their "Truly Beautiful" configuration, with a joystick to crossfade between them. I have a Soda Meiser, and it is the single most destructive pedal I've ever even come across, let alone owned.

So, this gets a "highly recommended" from me. Effector 13 destructive power and Analogue Haven service. What more could a boy ask for? And you have to be impressed about the fact that I've finally managed to make a post about AH where I spelled the name of the company correctly throughout.

i can't agree more about the power of the Soda Meiser. I actually have two of them, and they get used with my synths all the damn time. It's the biz for guitar as well.

Yeap, mine is on the way this week! I tried getting the prototype off ebay but it went for gobs of loot so I waited till it was available direct and snatched that hoochie. Should go nice with the Metasonix S-1000 wretch machine I'm ordering thursday as well ;)

does it do sounds other than the dying galaxyscapes shown in the videos?

Not really. The Soda Meiser has two settings: deep, heavy, thick-ass fuzz, and thin, whiney, synthifuzz. (The latter self-oscillates like a dying banshee.) The Synth Mangler, being two of these, thus doubles the pleasure/fun.

It isn't the most versatile pedal in the world, but it is _really_ good at that modern heavy silicon fuzz guitar sound. Strongly recommended for that.

I received my Synth Mangler from Analogue Haven on Friday along with a Disaster Fuzz Plus. Fantastic! I also purchased a Last Gasp Super Oscillo Fuzz which is very cool. I think i am going to purchase a few more of the Effector 13 pedals. So far i have only used with guitars but they will be big assets with the synths as well. A happy bi-product of the purchases was that it made me go pull out all my old CHROME records which i have been grooving to ever since.

Wow, Chrome as in a couple of decades ago, on Ralph Records? Haven't thought about them in ages. They were good...
