Free Audio Damage plug...

by Chris Randall

I've just received word that the free Audio Damage plug I talked about in an earlier post will be available on the cover DVD of Computer Music issue #102. It is called Pulse Modulator, and is based upon the above EH pedal, which you can read about here. I'll put up screenshots and a blurb or two once the plug is actually released, but here's the usual stuff: it will be included in the CM Studio in perpetuity, so any issue of CM you pick up from #102 onwards will have it. It will be available for AU/VST OSX and VST Win, and the OSX version is Universal Binary, of course. Issue #102 of CM will be on sale June 28th. It is not limited in any way, and is not a "demo" or hobbled, but is a full-featured Audio Damage product, just like our commercial plugs.

We will have a similar plug, with the same layout but a much different sound, available for purchase probably around the same time; I'll inform as to the particulars when they are pertinant.

So, don't say we never gave you nothin', right?

Our Pulse Modulator is not a direct clone of the EH pedal. The pedal is pretty sad, and (IMO) kind of unusable. That's probably why they only made like 12 of them.

Ours takes the idea of the pedal (which is the three LFOs driving one VCA, plus the distortion) and whips it in to shape. The LFOs can be synced or not, and you have an individual depth control for each one. So, to say you can get strange waveshapes is to put it mildly.

It's also worth noting that this product was the original inspiration for (and what ultimately resulted in) BigSeq. It's cool, though. It can be a simple traditional tremolo with variable waveshape and tempo sync, or it can be some kind of bizarre distorto-chopper thing. Plus, it is free, which is the best feature from a customer's viewpoint.

Discord 2 will be out any day. We're about to go beta with the AU version, then it's just cleaning up.

Pulse Modulator will _only_ be available from Computer Music, via their cover DVD. So you're gonna have to hunt that down. The companion product will be for sale on the AD website.
