Hard-Core Gear Porn Friday!!!

by Chris Randall

Okay, I've been shitting out synth-based HCGPF episodes for like two months straight, so it's time for a little something for the pro audio guys, which comprise roughly 9/10th of the AI readership, but for some reason hardly ever complain. (The moral? Synth collectors, of which I am one, are a bunch of whiney little bitches. Trust me. I would know.)

In any case, this is a tough HCGPF for me to assemble, because the subject of my tender minstrations this week doesn't appear to have a web page, as far as I can tell. Bucharest, Romania's favorite son Christian Sugar maintains a reasonably steady presence on most of the audio forums I read, but if he has a site, I can't find it. I'm sure AdamJay or someone will immediately inform me that I'm stupid and/or blind, and the website is at http://www.myleftnut.com or something. But until that occurs, we're just left with pictures. But hey, they're worth a thousand words a piece. So here's a few grand for you to chew on in the meantime. (Click each picture for the full-sized.)

Pictured up top is an example of Chris' fantastic DIY work, in the form of his Mixbuss project. All of his DIY work is notable for its colorful panels. e.g.:

I have no idea what the hell all that orange shit is. The only things I know for certain are (a) he made it all, and (b) that's a pretty nice chunk of Waldorf in that rack.

The yellow boxes are transient processors, along the lines of SPL's popular box. Here's a fun thread over at Prodigy-Pro where Chris explains how he makes his racks. That isn't contact paper and magic markers, okay? This thread has more info on the Mixbuss thingamajig and the transient modellers. Here's a close-up of some of the red/orange ones:

And, on a less pictographic tack, don't forget it's Friday! Jump around! Jump around! Jump up, jump up and get down! Everybody jump! Jump! Jump! Jump!

Damn! I'm tempted to put this one on Matrixsynth anyway, but... I just did the mother of all Waldorf synth porn, so... If only that red thing were a synth...

Well, I assume he doesn't have a website. But the following shots should cover pretty much all the "red/orange" stuff...
