Chandler, Joy of man's desiring...

by Chris Randall

Oh... my... god... Pictured above is the one and only prototype of a future Chandler product, the Abby Road desk. More info and better pix in this thread on Gearslutz. If you were looking for a hardware definition of the word "sexy," I think this would fit the bill nicely. Rest assured it will be incredibly expensive.

On first guess that looks to be about 50,000 one dollar bills...

At least. And worth every single penny. Dig the EMI-style reverse arc faders. This board is the shit. I'd love to record a band, specifically my band, through it. Now I just need a band.

i like the faders as well.. i think that's how you fire up the big gun on the 'deathstar' though.. so be careful!

$50K is a lot of coin. i'm sure it sounds great. i wonder how much an all line version would cost?

I made my guess based on each channel having a 12413 comp/limiter ($1900) and a 12411 input ($2000) multiply by 12 and round up... Now that I think about it, maybe I should have rounded a bit higher.

Don't let that $50k get you down. I just read that Behringer is making a sweet special edition knockoff with special faders- a new technolgy called CP emulation (that's cheap pot) and a lightup tube for each channel that isn't actually in the signal path but will impress all your buds. It will be exclusively available though Musician's Friend and will cost $129.95. And they'll throw in a Budweiser custom guitar strap and a pint of Gorilla Snot pick grip enhancer.
