SSL Duende Screenshot...

by Chris Randall

Just found a small screenshot of the two plugs from the SSL Duende, plus a mock-up of the front panel, such as it is. From this here site (if you want a slightly larger image.)

I want to take it home, and kiss it, and hug it, and love it, and name it "George."

UPDATE: Here's a Japanese page with better screenshots. It is, of course, in Japanese.

wowie.. pretty remarkable.

i'll be curious to see how all of these firewire boxes get along with each other. because at these price points, i see no reason not to get both the SSL and the focusrite (with all of its chewy compressors).

so after all the forum bickering.....it looks like it really can all be reduced to a formula...albeit a very complicated one.

is there still room for analog diehards? or are they one major revision away from flogging all their gear before too many others realise?

a new chance to grab loads of cool gear?

I think this very unit signals the watershed point. I'm going to an almost entirely software environment, and I know a lot of pros that are doing (or have already done) the same. I'm going to go to an Apogee A/D/A, a pair of Averil mic pres, and some Adam monitors, and spend the rest of my current windfall upgrading my computer.
