NAMM pics...

by Chris Randall

Brandon Daniel has put up pics of some of the analog highlights at NAMM. Check his site for the goods. (Click on NAMM shows->Winter->2006.)

Of special note are the Chaos Computer from Livewire, which looks outstanding, and the new Korg Radias, which I've taken a shine to. (Korg, unlike some synth companies named Roland that we won't name, has managed to put out some trendsetting products over the last couple years.)

Not trying to bitch, but it's named RadiAs, not RadiUs

Don't know what you're talking about. I spelled it right, as you can plainly see. ;-)

Sure, Roland may not have anything interesting in their new line-up, but they've got a shiny new web site! No more orange and purple for them!

I'm surprised Sonic Shit doesn't have a three-part article on the making of the new Roland web site.

Speaking to that, Harmony Central has begun offering up their mailing list to the highest bidder. I got a special Roland Edition of HC Insider today. Fucking spare me. Like that's inside information or something.

I've got your three-part review right here:

1. Take the old macromedia site (now Adobe): link [macromedia.com]">link [macromedia.com]

2. Change a few of the products from bloated useless apps (yeah, Dreamweaver, I'm talking about you) to bloated useless Fantom's. Shake vigorously and bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees.

3. Voila: link [rolandus.com]">link [rolandus.com]

Of couse, as I write this, the Korg site is crapping out on their new products (looks like a scripting error, or the "new product" thumbnails got put in before the acutal product pages). However, once working, there will actually be interesting new gear there.

I don't know what it is exactly, but I want one of those mutant iBook/Mellotron things (The Memotron that is) I've never thought about it before, but there's something sexy about a white plastic keyboard wih a slot loading cd-rom drive. I'm starting to undertand why I drool when looking at the Apple product page...

Looks like no new moog at namm, unless they're holding it out for the weekend, which would be weird. Maybe at Messe.
