Kombinat Dva Now Available...

by Chris Randall

As the subject says, Kombinat Dva is done and in the store. It's $49.00 for the full version, and a $10 upgrade from the original Kombinat. Git some!

Note: this will not affect any existing projects if you upgrade. Kombinat Dva is a separate plug-in from Kombinat, and projects that had Kombinat in them will still load the original. Kombinat Dva has the 40 main presets from Kombinat, so if you just used a preset in the original one, the same preset will sound pretty close in the new one and you can "port" your project settings accordingly.

Reading the manual. Favorite sentence so far 'old factory presets have names starting with "OG"'

This, along with the 'FSU' category in the effects section the website makes me wonder what people who haven't been following along at home make of the site. Those instances of USA music slang are definitely an in joke.

Speaking of 'in jokes' we need a AD FSU contest -- see who can make the most messed up yet musically useful bit of audio from e.g. the Amen Break.

Though this might actually be giving away my primary production technique.

Yeah, my use of idiomatic American English can get away from me sometimes. However, since "hip hop culture" has infected pretty much every corner of the globe, I think we can safely assume that anyone that knows what a plug-in does at all, and has enough English to read the manual, also knows what "OG" means.

And FSU? Everyone knows what that means.

I wrote the manual (or most of it, anyway) and I didn't know what "OG" means until I looked it up. OTOH I'm an aging hermit programmer.

The great thing about that is that OG is such an old phrase that you might have to explain to people because they're too young. It's gotta be getting close to Hep Cat territory.
