Various Things...

by Chris Randall

First up, you may or may not have heard but Beatserv is going out of business. Wade makes beds and background music for television as his main job, and his work has really taken off in the last few months. While this is excellent news, it means he doesn't have time to do Beatserv any more. He's doing one big throwdown before he shuts the virtual doors on the Beatserv site, so hit that shit and stock up before it's gone forever.

Next, I have an Eventide Space coming, so if you were waiting for my glowing report (aside from the one I gave at NAMM) that'll be forthcoming. I have an interesting theory about the operation of that unit that I don't believe anyone has tried yet, which I'll experiment with and report on.

Finally, we'll probably have the OS X side of Filterstation wrapped up and a beta version off to the testers today. I'm finishing up the presets today, as well. If we don't run in to any more issues, RC1 will go out for its wide test this weekend, and we'll have this bitch on sale next week.

EDIT: The preceding paragraph is a perfect example of what is known in this business as "hubris."

That's it for right now. Keep on keepin' on.

Very interested to hear about your theory regarding the Eventide Space. In related news, I HAVE A PROBLEM.

Wade: Boo to closing! Keep Beatserv going and drop a set every once in a while, even just once a year. Make it your hobby and make releases feel like a special, rare event.

Your shit is good, yo!

Plus, the name is dope.

I just bought some of Wade's beats, so far they've made me wish I was a better drummer.

Sad to hear about the end of Beatserv. Everything that came out was stellar. (h)IDM and the Kits from series two are frequently my go to drum sounds. I'm with Chad on this. Figure out some way to do a set every now and again. You know, for the fans. Probably pie in the sky, I know. The bandwidth charges have got to be fairly steep. But I can hope!

Also, now I'm forced to get the last two packs that I didn't already own. Not that I'm all upset about that!

Aww, thanks for the kind words guys. Well, unfortunately, a business doesn't run itself and I'm a do it well or forget it kind of guy. A few of the releases did well - the Series packs, Dark Downtempo - and there is a good chance I'll continue developing beats through another company. I just won't be in any way running that company ; ) Stay tuned.

I will run it for loops.

The Eventide Space is awesome, I've only had mine a few days, and only had the chance to mess with it briefly, (it turned up the day before I had to go back to work).

The Blackhole and Shimmer algorithms are amazing.

Looking forward to whatever weird jiggery-pokery you've got planned for yours.

I enjoyed everything I purchased from Beatserv. It will be missed, Wade.

Having to close down one business because another business is taking off is an enviable problem. Best wishes for ongoing success, Wade!
