Bundles? We Don't Need No Stinking Bundles...

by Chris Randall

But that doesn't mean we don't have them. If you head over to the Audio Damage site, and direct your gaze to the top, you'll notice a new category, Bundles.

Yes, this is what you think it is. We (and by "we" I mean my beautiful and talented wife) have worked out a method of "soft" bundles, where they're assembled by the store instead of needing a single installer, and have now made bundles a purchase option. We started with four bundles initially: an "Everything" bundle that is, well, everything, and then I went back through and looked at the common groupings for people that purchased multiple items, and came up with three other bundles that reflected general habits. We'll be adding more as time progresses.

There are also some changes internally; the one customers will notice most is that, in order to prevent a copy-paste error that occurs with Windows users, we've made the reg codes auto-select. Lots of admin changes, but you wouldn't notice those.

In unrelated news, I just put "Study One" on my Bandcamp page. This track is interesting from an academic standpoint, as I used a Korg monotron as the sole sound source, other than the drums, which are three Goldbaby samples. I actually took the time to make several different multi-samples of the monotron, and create Sampler objects, which got stacked in Instrument Racks in Live. Most of the craftiness is a result of stacking and enveloping; there are less plug-ins than you'd think.

Anyhow, I'll put the Instrument Racks up on the Free Shit page when I get around to it, but I thought the song would be interesting by itself.

BTW: are there any distinctive differences between the plate reverb in EOS and the plate reverb in ADverb?

If I buy a bundle and currently own one or more of the plugins in it, will I get a second license which I can then sell afterward, or should I sell my existing licenses first?

Might be useful to update the FAQ to answer the sure-to-be-frequently-asked question: do I get a discount in a bundle if I already own some of its plugins?

Two thumbs up for the bundles, BTW. I like the grouping (and pricing).

Was going to ask the same questions myself.(lol)

Or maybe the ability to switch plugins that you already own in a particular bundle with some others that you don't and still keep (or stay close to) the bundle price? That would be cool.

another note: add one or two more bundles and the savings for buying a bunch of individual bundles will be larger than buying your "complete" collection.

I've been wanting this for so long. I'm a hobbyest with a yearly reformat and reinstall habit. I've always thought reinstalling all my AD (and Ohmforce) plugins was kind of a pain and have wanted "the one installer" for a while now (but was too lazy to send an e-mail to request).

Any chance that if we already own all the plugins in a bundle that we can get switched over to the bundle?

@timblade: there isn't a one installer thing. This is a soft bundle, created by the store, and you get the individual installers.

Regarding whether you have one already but want the bundle, you can't sell individual items out of a bundle (which is mentioned in the FAQ now) so you'll want to sell your single item first.

@nostradamus: the plate algos in Eos are nothing like the one in ADverb. The latter is based upon a specific topology, that of the Lexicon 200 plate algorithm. The ones in Eos are custom built, and sound distinctly different.

As for the other questions, it is what it is.

Great idea re: bundles, but even cooler is this track. Nice work! I'm off to grab me a Monotron now. I was just waiting for an excuse.

Heh, I bought the 'everything bundle' the hard way -- minus DR Device, Ratshack, and Phase 2.

It would cost me $115 to be completist, & I'm not sure it's worth it just to say I have everything. I wouldn't mind the Phaser, and Dr Device is something I can more or less duplicate with other stuff I own. I fucking hate the Radio Shack reverb -- as someone who owned the original, I can live without that forever.

Somewhat off topic I go back and forth between EOS and the UAD-1 EMT140 reverb and I can't say I like one more than the other. EOS is just plain great.
