The above pictured is a beautiful example of the Buchla Music Easel, a rare bird if ever there was one. Normally, you'd be able to visit that Easel, which resided at the Music Technology Labs of Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA. I say "normally" because some enterprising yet misguided soul stole it.
Now, stealing something like this is a bit like stealing the Mona Lisa. The pool of people that are going to pay the $20K it is worth is very small, and taking it to a pawn shop will probably only get you $5.00. This particular Easel is missing the lid, and almost certainly has Evergreen embossing somewhere on its case. If you come across this unit, or someone tries to sell it to you, please contact Evergreen, or myself, and help it get home to where it belongs.
Here's something for the Laptop Battle folks. $72.00 will get you a t-shirt with a working spectrograph on it. Good for the fashion-forward lead singer, too, so the soundman can see where the feedback is. Buy it here.
Our good friend dm just wrote to inform me that he purchased the pictured Viscount Imperial off the 'bay for a buck fifty. That is one bad mother... (shut your mouth!) He's taking a collection for bell bottoms and a furry hat. Paypal to me directly. (Click the image for the full-sized glory shot.)
Chandler has another Germanium product on the way in the near future, the Germanium EQ.
Here is the info sheet on the product. I'm one ASCAP check away from picking up the Germ pre; these will obviously make a happy couple. No price yet, but you should go knock around the Chandler site anyways. (Click that image above to see it really big, like.)
